A combination of soft-to-moderate tannins, clove spice, and subtle hints of vanilla. It should evolve for 10-15 years, yet is still elegent enough to drink now.
The 2007 vintage was excellent for Napa Valley. The season started out 2 to 3 weeks ahead of schedule, partly due to a warm, dry winter and spring. The weather cooled mid-summer to lengthen the growing season. Clusters and berry size was small. The dry season helped to create very intense fruit.
The ’07 Grenache shows red fruits, along with kirsch, clove, black currants and pepper spice. This wine is concentrated and focused, yet retains elegance and restraint through its balance.
The blend is based on the spicy zinfandel fruit of Arrowhead Mountain Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, it is rounded out with the minerality and depth of Syrah, and the bright berry fruit of Carignan.
